A meta?analytic review of the relationship between attachment styles and posttraumatic growth

Objective The present review aimed to examine the relationship between attachment styles and posttraumatic growth in adults exposed traumatizing events. Method A systematic literature search resulted inclusion of 14 studies review. Four correlational meta-analyses secure, dismissive, preoccupied, fearful, growth, were conducted. Results These revealed a significant small positive secure (r = 0.21, p < 0.001); negative dismissive ?0.12, 0.001), weak preoccupied ?0.04, 0.235), fearful 0.08, 0.248). Conclusions is modest may be better explained by other variables. Nonetheless, findings provide useful information for clinicians regarding potential impact style following exposure.
